Notice: The Town Board Organizational Meeting will be January 6, 2009 at 7PM Town Hall

State Officials are reminding homeowners in NY State to apply for their 2007 Middle Class STAR Property Tax Rebate. The rebate is available to qualifying property owners, however you must file an application with the State Tax Department by March 1, 2009.

These applications are necessary in order for the Department to be able to link real property information from local assessment rolls to income information to determine the appropriate amount of tax relief. Once the applications are received, homeowners are encouraged to apply on-line to receive their rebate checks as quickly as possible.

Seniors 65-years or older who receive the enhanced STAR exemption do not have to apply. These homeowners will receive their STAR rebate check automatically.

The Tax Department had updated information on its website, www.nystax.gov, as well as through the department's call center, creating a hotline at 1-877-6-STAR (1-877-678-2769). Spanish speakers will be able to receive assistance through the call center. There is other information available on the website regarding rebates according to your annual salary range. This information has been published in the September/October 2007 Talk of the Towns & Topics brochure.
